I recently had opportunity to photograph a birthday party of my colleague, Weffy Muller, in Hong Kong.
It was held at an open rooftop in the cloudy day which apparently produced soft light with blueish tone on people’s skin.
I set my camera to Program mode with Auto ISO so that I can concentrate on capturing the moments throughout the event. I also set the White Balance at a fixed rate according to the color temperature of ambient light.
I used a flash gun which runs TTL and bounced it off the white wall to produce softer light on the subjects. When the night came, I added a CTO gel to match the color temperature with the scene which were illuminated by tungsten lights.
The choice of my gears for this event were:
- Canon 5D Mark 3
- Canon 24-70mm f2.8L, Canon 50mm f1.2L, Canon 85mm f1.8 lenses
- Godox v860 II Flash with LumiQuest CTO Gel
Thank you Andi for taking a beautiful photos of our Party! We are so happy with result, natural and relax.
